Da Educação Popular aos cursinhos populares: o caso da Rede Emancipa em Uberlândia (2021-2023)

The objective of this article is to explain the movements of historical conquest of popular education, together with the popular classes, and its use, from the popular courses, in the creation of an education model that antagonizes the strictly commercial model of education. It is understood, from this, that the formation of popular courses in Brazil, can be seen as an extension of popular education. For this, a double movement was made: first, a bibliographical research carried out in an attempt to achieve the use of popular education along with the history of popular courses in Brazil, and reach the studies that analyze the emergence of popular courses in the country. Secondly, an interview was made with the coordinator of the Emancipa Network, Social Movement of Popular Education of the city of Uberlândia, in order to better understand the action of the movement in the city. It is perceived, from this, that the political use of education, made with the social movements of popular courses, aims, above all, a political emancipation of its students, but simultaneous to this, also aims at the democratization of access to higher education in institutions of public and private higher education.
