Creativity in mathematics and the supervised internship: implications for teaching practice

Resumo: The research aims at analyzing the perceptions of teachers in relation to practices observed during Supervised Teaching Practice in undergraduate teaching programs in Maths, as far the creative processes of students are concerned. It is a qualitative based research whose target comprises tertiary level teachers working for state institutions in Goias and the Federal District of Brasília and the information was submitted to content analysis, which constituted the case study. Among the results obtained, it is noteworthy that the term creativity is seen from the angles of originality and flexibility of thought. Equally worth mentioning is that most teachers see themselves as creative and acknowledge the creative dimension of their teaching practices. According to the research, the supervised teaching of mathematics is a phase of paramount importance in the formative background of teachers and it may provide an atmosphere of creative enhancement among students.

Trata-se de uma pesquisa de natureza qualitativa. Os sujeitos da investigação são professores de instituições de ensino superior públicas em Goiás e Distrito Federal e as informações foram analisadas mediante análise de conteúdo, constituindo-se o estudo de caso. Dentre os resultados obtidos, destaca-se que o termo criatividade é compreendido nas dimensões originalidade e flexibilidade de pensamento, sendo que a maioria dos docentes se identifica como um professor criativo e que reconhece o processo criativo no desenvolvimento de suas atividades.
